J. P. Sanderson papers, 1846-1865.

Includes correspondence, including copies of political letters while Sanderson worked in Missouri as Provost Marshal General and a correspondence journal during his army career from 1862 to April 1864. The Order of American Knights (O.A.K.) exposure papers explain the rebel conspiracy in detail through reports of undercover agents and testimonies of the conspirators. One scrapbook includes newspaper articles regarding the O.A.K. Exposure; another contains J.P. Sanderson Jr.'s collection of newspaper clippings, 1864 through 1865 documenting the assassination of President Lincoln, the trial of the assassination, the Wirz Trial, and other important events.
